The Notre Dame Report

by: Daniel Riehs

SOUTH BEND, Ind.—Incoming Notre Dame freshmen will receive quite a surprise when they arrive for school next September, a university spokesperson announced Tuesday. Once students move in to their residence halls, they will be told that the university's $1.5 billion endowment is actually a scant $19,000.

University President Edward A. Malloy said during an interview yesterday, "This new plan will give us all a chance to reflect on societal values. Will our lovable Irish mascot and connection to the movie Rudy be enough to keep students at Notre Dame? Or will our students transfer to rich universities that can actually afford provide them with quality educations? It's all so exciting."

Fox plans to air the announcement and the students' reactions during November sweeps.
