SACRAMENTO, Calif.—Arnold Schwarzenegger received a backlash recently when he called a group of gay supporters "girlie men."
"Girlie men" is a popular slur used to describe Democrats, and the Republican supporters were understandably offended.
"I can't believe that he suggested we were Democrats," said Bob Reed, one of the men the governor spoke of. "And to say it in such an offensive way . . . I don't even want to think about it."
Schwarzenegger was unavailable for comment.
