Abortion Day Festivities Consume Washington
by: Daniel Riehs
WASHINGTONThousands of pro-life activists marched with banners and placards Wednesday, the 30th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade. Protesters were encouraged by hopes that the new Republican-run Congress would end abortion by declaring it to be immoral.
The controversial Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision has enabled women in all fifty states to morally abort their unborn children for the last 30 years. Prior to the ruling, women judged guilty of having abortions would burn in the fiery depths of hell for all eternityforced to listen to the eternal screams of their murdered children.
President George W. Bush, who was in St. Louis Wednesday speaking to capital-punishment activists, noted that the gathering in Washington was close to the Jefferson Memorial, a tribute to the author of the Declaration of Independence and one-time fetus, Thomas Jefferson.
"It's refreshing to see so many of America's young people out there in the bitter coldmarching to protect state's rights and uphold the values of Federalism," said Bush.
Veteran marcher Dennis Floyd, 50, responded to Bush's comments at a recent press conference.
"Ban Roe-V-Wade forever! . . . Wait a minute. . . . Federalism? What are we talking about again?"
Wednesday's events attracted tens of thousands of participants. Marchers included priests, nuns, and starving Iraqi children. Both women-have-no-rights-and-we-want-to-invade-their-bodies groups and pro-women's-freedom groups were well represented.
Directing a group of billboard-sized color photographs of aborted fetuses, Paul Natstrom, of the Center for Bioethical Reform, mentioned that the objective of pro-lifers is clearthe overturn of Roe vs. Wade, or more specifically, "the death of all Democrats."
Taking a different view on the issue, pro-choice activist Marion Bane told reporters, "Roe vs. Wade is just such a logical decision. Overturning it doesn't make any sense." She then added, "If you will excuse me, I'll going to try and make it legal to kill Irish immigrants in all 50 states."
A non-partisan memorial service to remember the victims of abortion, euthanasia, assisted suicide, capital punishment, artificially-induced famine, drug abuse, Aids, genocide, economic sanction, terrorism, and war was cancelled Wednesday night due to lack of interest.
Planned Parenthood's billboard showed an aborted fetus wearing a sailor suit and smoking a bubble pipe.
