It's Not Too Early To Start Preparing For Next Year's Themed Tree
by: Sally Mordant*
Christmas may be twelve months away, but it's never too early to start gathering ornaments for next year's themed Christmas tree.
This year, I decided to decorate my tree with bottle caps and candy wrappers. I had oodles of fun collecting the decorations. Back in January, I started saving caps from all varieties of beverage bottles. A strategically-placed hole and some shiny ribbon completed each ornament.
I used the candy wrappers to construct a pretty garland. My guests just loved the Hershey-Kiss foil.
If you start early, you only have to invest a few hours a day on your tree. Pretty soon, you'll start seeing ornaments everywhere. I remember a certain trip to the recycling center back in March. Oh! The memories.
Of course, if bottle caps are not for you, there are plenty of other options. Uncooked maccaroni comes in a wide variety of shapes, and there's nothing like a Christmas tree decorated with prophylactics to bring a family together.
You have to start now, though. This isn't a project that can be completed in just a few months. It's never too early to start preparing for next year's themed tree.
