There Is Only One Way To Save The Women's United Soccer Association

by: Linus McFeely*

It's been announced that the Women's United Soccer Association, the only professional women's soccer league in the United States, will fold before the start of its fourth season. This is being done—in part—because of struggling ticket sales and a general disinterest in soccer.

This doesn't need to happen. There is an easy way to make sure that the Women's United Soccer Association remains a vibrant force in American professional sports and that these hard-working athletes do not lose there jobs.

We must place a protective tariff on the men's soccer league, Major League Soccer.

I am proposing a $20-per-ticket tax on all Major League Soccer events. This small tax will ensure that fans of women's soccer are not led away from the WUSA by the superior talent of male soccer players and the fact that their games are generally much more exciting.

This tariff is essential for our nation. We must not let such an important part of our culture as the Women's United Soccer Association disappear.

My plan is flawless; it helps every-day Americans, and has absolutely no negative consequences for any body.

And maybe we can even use the money raised by the tax as an extra subsidy for airlines.

There is only one way to save the Women's United Soccer Association.
